The Rigby Sketchbook Series

West Australian Goldfields Sketchbook

Australian Horses Sketchbook

Melbourne Sketchbook

This series of about 175 titles was published from 1966 to about 1982 by Rigby Publishers Limited. The one hundredth book in the series was the Carlton & Parkville Sketchbook in 1976. The book was issued with a removable purple band tucked inside the front and back covers announcing "100th SKETCHBOOK - celebrating the 100th publication in this Rigby series". Thank you David McKinlay for pointing this out.

All Rigby editions were published in hardcover and were octavo (8vo) with the exception of a dozen titles which were oblong quarto (ob 4to).

Some titles were later republished by others in either softcover or hardback.

Most of the sketches depict buildings in Australian towns. A vignette accompanies each drawing.

In 1975 the main office of Rigby Limited was located at 30 North Terrace, Kent Town, South Australia. Later, there was a furniture and homewares store at that address.

Presented here are three lists of Rigby Sketchbooks. The first is intended as a complete list, the second is of titles that are referred to from time to time but I doubt were published, and the last list provides details of the four omnibus editions.

The following list is believed to be a complete list of all the Rigby Sketchbook Series in title sequence. It not include the dubious titles
